Discouraging Cheating: Students Should Learn Their Academic Research Material on Their Own

Essay Writing

Many at times students present information, which does not belong to them. This has been evident in many institutions of higher learning. According to experts, when students present information which does not belong to them, this amounts to intellectual theft. This is because research rules are entrenched on the idea of looking for information from reliable sources and presenting it. The following are some ways of avoiding the occurrence of such a situation.

The right culture of learning should be inculcated. By enhancing the right learning culture, students are encouraged to work hard. This means that students undertake research activities by use of the required mechanisms. By encouraging the required culture of learning, students are motivated to seek knowledge by engaging in the right research activities. It is important to note that when students undertake learning activities in a better environment, the probability of their success is higher. On the other hand, when students learn in a poor environment, the main objective of education is compromised.

Strict rules regarding learning and research should be introduced. This is an important component in terms of setting the right platform required for learning. As long as the right policy frameworks are put in place, attaining the set academic targets becomes realistic. In addition, having rules and regulations provides the learning institution with the ability to streamline learning and other academic activities. According to research and analysis, when a learning institution is subjected to the right rules of operation, it becomes easier and effective to attain the set goals.

The other mechanism of ensuring that students present the right information is pinned on the idea of reforming the education system. By reforming the education system, students have an opportunity of acquiring more knowledge and information that would enhance them to become better academic researchers. Most students fail to reach their academic objectives because of a compromised education system, which fails to consider their strengths and weaknesses.

Students should be encouraged to be independent knowledge seekers (a good example of that can be seen on student research papers review websites like EssayForum.com). This is an important component in terms of enhancing the right culture of learning in an academic institution. As long as students are in a position of undertaking academic research independently, the probability of attaining better academic research techniques becomes a reality.

Students should be encouraged to adopt honesty as a virtue. Honesty is the best policy and so is the scenario when students can present information that is in tandem with their academic capabilities. When students are honest, learning becomes an enjoyable and rewarding experience. On the other hand, if students are not honest, the very essence of learning is compromised. It is important to note that honesty encourages a sense of patriotism and discipline among students in their future endeavors.

Teachers and parents should set a good example. When teachers, parents and guardians set a good example, the students tend to emulate the traits in their academic and social endeavors. Most students are young and look up to senior people for example and leadership. Many at times teachers and parents blame students for poor performance without factoring in the environmental factors affecting them such as their example towards students.

Discouraging cheating among students creates the right environment for honesty and hard work. This will see students work hard in order to attain their academic objectives. This will mean that materials submitted by students will be a reflection of their hard work. Many at times students cheat in examinations causing a scenario where tutors develop the wrong attitude in terms of their academic capabilities. It is important for students to exhibit their academic capabilities in order for the teachers to design mechanisms of aiding them in their studies.

Methods of Promoting Academic Integrity in Schools

Introduction

Just like inventions, expression of original knowledge is considered intellectual asset. Doing examinations and assignments have proved to be an uphill task for many students. In the current academic setup, many students have started intentionally or unintentionally reproducing work that had been produced by another person. These students do not attribute their written content to the source, and they submit it to their tutors in an attempt to achieve an academic benefit. It is required that in natural language assignments, students should acknowledge the authorship and the source of the material which they are not the original authors. This paper seeks to illustrate the top ten methods of preventing duplication (Desena).

It is easy to have an assumption that students are aware of what constitutes to plagiarism, which is not always the ideal case. Some students have not written sufficient assignments to comprehend what plagiarism is. Students have been known to rearrange phrases and reorder tenses. It is paramount to talk with students before any plagiarism incident. Tutors should advise students on writing skills that constitute plagiarism. Another method that can be used to prevent plagiarism is the ability to transform private perspectives into original phrases. Reliance on other people’s words leads to focus on publishing instead of writing well, which leads to lack of expertise to articulate (Lathrop and Foss).

Writing from a strong ethical base is depends on honesty. This leads to the absence of fabricated text from an article. Credible writing comes about when there is reconciliation between the written word and making that word legitimate. However, having a strong ethical base is a result of continuous reinforcement and is thus a learned behavior. Teaching staff needs to be upfront with learners about the repercussions they will face in case plagiarism is detected in their assignments (Desena). At orientation, students should be told that plagiarism is not tolerated. The tutors should not be sympathetic and should use the perpetrators as examples. Teachers should warn, even if it means through threat of pursuance of suspension. After students see that these consequences are functional, they will do everything to make sure they do not submit unoriginal work.

According to Lampert, planning gives enough time for every activity in which students engage. It is essential for students to get on the right track at the new stages of a semester by noting all the deadlines for papers, assignments, and exams. Students should be engaged in a consistent study schedule for the entire period, and should try keeping ahead of their work. Advance planning allows for minimum effort in doing assignments without the pressure of copy pasting and paraphrasing (Desena).

When preparing papers, students should list the books used carefully. They should know the page numbers, authors, and publication dates. They should avoid getting information from the internet directly inter their own documents. They should attribute unoriginal content in the paper by use of quotation marks, and footnotes. They are supposed to cite using the required citation method. Students should follow instructions given to them by tutors. Students should seriously consider the guidelines set by the teachers. They are not likely to arouse suspicion regarding the originality of their work if they follow the set guidelines to the letter. This entails instructions given in the exam period (McCabe).

At times, plagiarism may happen unintentionally. It is necessary to use plagiarism detector software to make sure that one is on the safe side. However, it should not go to these extremes. Students should not avoid plagiarism because of the rules and the severe consequences if caught having submitted unoriginal academic materials. They should avoid plagiarism because it is a right thing to do, and the result is self-confidence for giving personal intellect a chance (Lampert).

According to Robertson, fabricators usually invent the unusual. It is crucial for students to review their personal writing by assuming they are skeptics of their own work. This involves questioning every aspect and piece of paper. It avails the ability to trace the sources of data used to write the article. This shows that the writer stuck to reality. The advancements in technology have made it simpler to collect and duplicate information into the required document. This information may be differing as the students copy from different sources that have different motives. Students should take time to determine the reliability of every source evaluate the authenticity of the points used in developing the discussion. It is vital for them to compare themes that re-emerge in other credible materials (Lathrop and Foss).

Confusion about Academic Degree and Student Success

I do not believe an academic degree is the key to success and I am not in opposition to any academic degrees. I have a degree myself, and I would recommend a college or a university for several people. However, there are some people better off not having an academic degree because it might be aligning with their career aspirations or skills. Success does not rely on an academic qualification paper, and it should not.

Success is defined as the actions a person takes in achieving his or her dreams and the goals in life. Therefore, if it means going to college or university to obtain a traditional 4-year degree, then it is awesome. Moreover, if it means going on the job training or studying during the night to attain a license or certification, then that is great too. Today, there are numerous importance’s placed achieving on a college degree, but that should not be the right choice for everybody, and it should not be. A person should choose, therefore, a career path that makes you happy, put more effort, continue learning, and provide value to what you do, and success will follow.

In our history, several people have succeeded far beyond general standards without necessarily achieving an academic degree. This means that having an academic degree do not indicate that a person is incompetent, not ambitious, or unintelligent. For instance, Walt Disney is one example of those people who did not have to attain an academic degree to be successful. All he had to do is work on his ambition and gain the motivation to continue, and after all, it paid off. Therefore, I believe others can do the same. In addition, there are several other alternatives for professional academic degree; some of them include the military, AmeriCorps certification, being an entrepreneur, and cosmetology school.

From when a person is young, the society makes it clear that academic degree is the only way a person can be successful in life. Moreover, several other educators also do not tell students that there are other different opportunities and possibilities that a person can be successful not necessarily by gaining a degree. A degree does not guarantee a job and sometimes when a person does; they get a job that does not revolve around the scope of the degree. In conclusion, success is not based on an academic degree, but on a person’s opinion on what success is to him or her. Thus, an academic is just a path to success but there are other alternative routes to a successful life.

As already mentioned, an academic degree is important, but without morals (refer to: https://essayscam.org/forum/), it is hard to hope that a person can be successful in life. A person immoral deeds when they surface, they taint the reputation of a highly academic qualified person. Some of this people end up not being successful in life since they lack morals. For instance, there are prominent people such as Tey Tsum Hang, a professor in National University in Singapore who was involved in a sex-for-grades scandal. Even though he had a good education, his lack of morals tainted his name and destroyed his name. This is a good illustration showing that a person may have all the education needed, but still not be successful.

Conclusively, even though a degree is necessarily essential, financially speaking, a degree is important for a successful life. For several stable and financially rewarding jobs, an academic degree is termed necessary. This is because for several jobs they will need a continued education even after a degree; this is to keep up with the changes in the industry. With the development of technology today and the rate to which the world is developing, I think it is necessary to gain an academic degree on the specific field you have chosen. Therefore, it gives a person a financial security even though there are other alternatives to being successful.
